LOTTO 6/49 continues to offer bigger jackpots more often, and Saturday's draw is estimated to be the second-largest ever for a Canadian lottery at $42 million.
The jackpot of $32 million offered on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 was not won, and will be followed by the next big draw to be held on Saturday August 12, 2006. The largest jackpot ever in Canadian lottery history was another LOTTO 6/49 top prize of $54.29 million from October 26, 2005 which was won with a single ticket sold in Western Canada.
Ontarians win often, and win big with LOTTO 6/49. Since LOTTO 6/49 was launched in June 1982, Ontario players have won more than $7.1 billion in prizes including more than 1,048 jackpot wins.
LOTTO 6/49 is operated and managed in the province by OLG, a provincial agency responsible for province-wide lottery games, commercial and charitable casinos, and the operation and management of slot machine facilities at horse racing tracks. It is a provincial offence, punishable by fines, to sell OLG lottery tickets to anyone under 18 years of age.
